Another Update!
There's not a whole lot to report from Will. He's settling in and has been acclimating to the heat. He's happy to report that he is staying well and really felt like he got some things accomplished this last week. He says he was able to finish the electrical for the new dental clinic, putting in electrical outlets and finishing lights, etc.

Hot and tired... working on air conditioning |
He also ran conduits on the roof to bring power and helped troubleshoot a few other little things (air compressors, battery backups, some electrical hook-ups, etc).

Besides the work, he says what he enjoys the most is talking with some of the workers. He says, "Sharing their thoughts about working for the hospital, Adventist church, American politics, visa programs, COVID, the current condition in Haiti is very interesting. They also seem very curious about my opinions and views. These are fun and illuminating conversations and it also shows more of how much of a struggle it is to live down here. There are lots of sad things they deal with like gangs and such. I'm pretty sure I've heard some shots fired...
"All the other Americans are going back to the States for 2 weeks on the 30th. So, I will be alone. Managing myself. It will be interesting and a good test for the long run. Hopefully nothing eventful happens during that time."
One first from Will last week was that he observed & helped on a surgery one morning. He says, "It was a very interesting experience and it tells me that I could never work in the medical field (I was feeling sick...) I didn't choose to take any pictures of that, though."
So - what DID he purchase from the market for "comfort food?" He bought noodles, crackers, bread, and jelly. He also got some flour, eggs and milk. Now we know how to comfort him, I guess!!
He says he's done a little cooking. He made pancakes and noodles.
He wanted to head back to the market for some candy but the guy he goes with wasn't available and he prefers to go with someone else. He's been encouraged to go with someone and not to go alone. I guess he will have to sweeten up a different day.
Will says it will probably be a couple weeks until the next update since he just doesn't have a ton of interesting news right now. He says if they start the big wing remodel project that will be something we will want to follow. But for now there are just minor things going on.
So - please pray for him as he "holds down the fort" while the other Americans return to the States for a holiday. And please feel free to leave messages for him in the comment section below. Each one is an encouragement and a connection to "home!"
