And... He's back!

Will completed his time in Haiti when he left there on Sunday, July 30. Prior to leaving he was able to accomplish a whole lot!!  What seemed to be overwhelming and next to impossible to achieve in April was completed in full before his departure.

The entire oxygen system for the new hospital wing is installed and working. He says, "It feels miraculous that we finally got there! All the random connectors and all the problems felt overwhelming back in April. But it is all working now with no leaks!

"This wall got very busy. Many pipes, tubes, conduits, wires, etc. But it all works!
"This is the completed hallway.
If you look closely on the above photo you can see a light by each door which is a
nurse call light (new feature.)  There are also hallway lights installed."

This is one of the new bathrooms. Everything is new, shiny and up to date.

This is a new oxygen unit in perfect working order.

This is Dr. Nelson, who Will worked alongside at the hospital.  Although a trained surgeon, he is very skilled in fixing equipment and maintenance in various capacities. Here he is doing "surgery" on a light socket to modify it for a specific use and location.

The successfully completed and modified outlet.

Will was also able to watch Dr. Nelson in "real" surgery.  He suited up, complete with mask, and says he learned a lot.
He said it was both fascinating and gross.

Will is really looking the part, here!

As Haiti unrest popped up in our American news and the U.S. State Department asked all Americans to leave Haiti, Will was already scheduled to fly out and had a ticket in hand. He says everything seemed normal or even better than normal the day he flew out.

After a few delays and an unscheduled night in the Atlanta airport, he arrived in Kansas City on Monday morning, July 31.  After taking a couple days of rest and visiting  some sites in Kansas City, he picked up his Mom at the airport and attended ASI, Adventist Laymen's Services & Industries. It was a 3-day convention of mission opportunities - a great opportunity for Will to network and explore additional opportunities for service. While he was there he was able to meet lots of individuals and since then he has received many specific requests to assist in work from Colombia to Guyana to Chad.  So many ways to serve!

After all that, his quick transition from working and living in Haiti to the mainstream and fast paced American daily life, he needed quiet time to reflect and listen to God's voice and seek His direction.  So he headed for the desert of Nevada, which has always been his "go-to" to shut out the distractions and noise of the world.
A man and his truck... roughing it in Wyoming on the way to Nevada.

A desolate, beautiful, wide-open sunset off the beaten path in Wyoming.

And he's on the open road.

His next plan includes visiting friends in Kansas City over Labor Day and then he's flying to Belize to assist the Adventist hospital in troubleshooting electrical issues.  After that... stay tuned.

He's got a lot to think about! If you know Will, you know that he's a deep thinker and desires to serve where he is most needed and what "feels right." There is so much in his brain and he desires to follow the next phase of where God is leading.  Pray for him as he sorts it all out and makes decisions for the rest of this year. He needs our prayers right now, more than ever!
